Waste Sorting Guide
The possibility of recycling begins with proper waste sorting. To facilitate separate collection, municipal waste is divided into six main fractions: residual waste, biowaste, paper and cardboard, plastic, metal, and glass.
Each fraction has its own recovery procedures, therefore its own collection rules and its own dedicated container, bin, or bag. Below you will find detailed information about each category, examples of waste accepted for collection for subsequent treatment or recovery, as well as examples of items and materials that must not be placed in those containers because they are collected occasionally through dedicated collection campaigns, such as bulky waste, hazardous waste, textile waste, WEEE, and others.
Our company is required to be familiar with the waste acceptance criteria of each facility where separately collected waste is delivered. We must also ensure, through a visual inspection, that the collected waste complies with these criteria. If these criteria are not met, the respective waste fraction will be refused for collection, and the responsibility for proper sorting remains with the waste generator, namely the citizen.
The quantities of regularly collected municipal waste, meaning the waste divided into the six fractions and collected according to the collection schedules, which are accepted for collection, are transported to the treatment facility known as the Cristești-Vălureni Sorting, Composting and Transfer Station. This facility is managed by a delegated operator within the Integrated Solid Waste Management System of Mureș County, under the Intercommunity Development Association Ecolect Mureș.
The quantities of occasionally collected municipal waste, such as bulky waste, hazardous waste, textile waste, WEEE, and others, which are accepted for collection, are transported and recovered through authorized operators with whom our company has individual contracts.
