The partnership supports better driver information, helps avoid temporary congestion and advances a smarter collection route planning system

Sylevy Cleaning announces a data-sharing partnership with Waze, one of the world’s most popular navigation apps. The collaboration is being carried out through the Waze for Cities Data program and aims to improve urban mobility, provide drivers with more effective information and optimize the routes used for waste collection.

Through this partnership, information about Sylevy Cleaning vehicles currently in service will contribute to a clearer picture of temporary traffic conditions. Drivers will be informed about areas where collection activities may temporarily slow traffic and will be able to choose an alternative route in advance.

This capability is particularly important at the start of the new school year. During the morning and afternoon periods, traffic increases considerably around educational institutions, while the stops required for waste collection may temporarily affect traffic flow. By providing road users with better information, Sylevy Cleaning aims to contribute to more predictable and safer journeys for students, parents and other drivers.

The Waze for Cities Data program is based on a two-way exchange of information. Waze provides partners with anonymized data on incidents, slowdowns and traffic conditions, generated in real time with the help of its driver community. In turn, partners can share up-to-date information about events and temporary situations that may affect traffic.

The partnership also gives Sylevy Cleaning access to historical traffic data from recent years, together with significant analytical capacity: up to 1 TB of queries each month. This substantial volume of information will make it possible to identify the areas and time periods in which congestion occurs repeatedly.

In the next phase, Sylevy Cleaning will integrate the relevant data into its own route planning system. By analyzing current conditions and historical traffic patterns, the system will also be able to account for congestion that recurs on particular days or during specific time periods. This will enable collection routes to be organized more efficiently, reducing delays and time spent in traffic.

The Waze map evolves continuously based on information received from drivers and program partners. Integrating this data gives communities an opportunity to better understand local mobility, anticipate situations that affect traffic and make decisions based on up-to-date information.
